Description
This course covers the identification of components and correct procedures, descriptions of the functions and purpose, and troubleshooting as it relates to fundamentals of compressed air systems. It also covers the air mixture of nitrogen, oxygen and water vapor and the interrelationship of air pressure, temperature, volume, water vapor, and dew point. It also covers the uses of compressed air, and the purposes and flow sequence of filter, compressor first stage, intercooler, compressor second stage, aftercooler, aftercooler separator, after-aftercooler, after-aftercooler separator, receiver and dryer.
At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the fundamentals of compressed air system including air mixture
- Explain the interrelationship of air pressure, temperature, volume, water vapor and dew point
- Label parts including filter, first stage, intercooler, second stage, aftercooler, etc.
- Demonstrate this knowledge on a written, final exam including problems
Prerequisites: Knowledge of basic physics
