Industrial Safety and Health (Course# 109.1) has been pre-approved for 12 TCHs (1.2 IACET CEUs) of operator certification renewal continuing education training for both drinking water and wastewater operators by operator certification boards in multiple states including the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Operators of Drinking Water Supply Facilities.

Course Description

This newly updated and expanded independent study course covers the subject of industrial safety, including unsafe acts and conditions, and employer/employee responsibility for job safety. It explains government involvement in ensuring a safe workplace. There are individual lessons discussing safety in various situations – using tools and machinery, handling chemicals and other materials, and working with electricity. Other lessons discuss personal protective equipment and fire safety. It includes expanded coverage of many health hazards such as asbestos, noise, radiation, and fetal exposures. It also covers ergonomics and environmental responsibility and concludes with a lesson on the importance of maintaining a safe work environment.

Independent study course lessons and exercises are contained in the “Industrial Safety and Health Workbook” which is mailed to students upon registration for the course.  SkillWorks provides 24/7 learning support by phone for registered students.

Students earn an official course certificate of completion for 12 training contact hours (1.2 IACET CEUs) of continuing education training by passing the final exam with a score of 70%  or better.

After completing all assignments, exercises and quizzes from the course workbook there are two options for taking the Final Exam at the conclusion of this course:

Format: Paper Workbook – Online Exam

Format: Paper Workbook – Paper Exam

A traditional written final exam is shipped with your course workbook when you register. Complete all of the workbook assignments before completing the written final exam then mail the exam and other required materials back to SkillWorks for grading. Returned course materials are promptly graded within one business day of arrival. Your exam results and Certificate of Completion are promptly shipped back after grading.
