Description
This course covers newly updated and expanded subject of industrial safety, including unsafe acts and conditions, and employer/employee responsibility for job safety. Explains government involvement in ensuring a safe workplace. Individual lessons discuss safety in various situations – using tools and machinery, handling chemicals and other materials, and working with electricity. Other lessons discuss personal protective equipment and fire safety. Includes expanded coverage of many health hazards – asbestos, noise, radiation, and fetal exposures. Covers ergonomics and environmental responsibility. Concludes with a lesson on the importance of maintaining a safe work environment.
At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe government’s role in workplace safety
- Identify safe industrial practices including personal protective equipment, and health and fire safety
- Choose correct ergonomic and environmental standards
- Demonstrate this knowledge on a multiple choice final exam
